History

The Foreign Investors Association in the Kaliningrad region (FIAS) was established in May 31st, 2005 with a view to advocate the interests of foreign investors operating in the Kaliningrad oblast and its Special Economic Zone.

 

The initiators of FIAS were Dr. Stefan Stein, Head of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce in Kaliningrad, and the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Denmark, Mr. Arne Grove. First FIAS members were DFDS Transport Kaliningrad, Produkty Pitania and Landis Trading Kaliningrad.

 

In June 15th, 2005 the President of the Association was elected. Mr. Stefano Vlahovic, the President of Produkty Pitania, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Croatia in the Kaliningrad region, became the first FIAS President and remains its leader to the present day. This date marked the beginning of the Association and its history.

 

Starting with only 12 members the Association was steadily developing having increased their number to 17 companies by 2006. Following the continuous growth in the subsequent years, the Association now unites 36 companies with foreign investment
